That is what I'll do when it warms up a bit right now it is cold and snowing out. I did not get any codes because I cleared them with the Edge Insight when I got it and i was trying it out. The Edge said I had low turbo boost and a missfire on #1 cylinder. The AE says I have an EGR Error and I get 50% on the Live Data Meter. And before I got the Edge and the AE I took it to Autozone and there scaner pulled code P0299.
look under "help" then click on "feature activation" you should see next to the supported features that "enhanced ford" should be green with "activated" and not yellow

I didn't have it activated but is do now. Still don't see how to make it do anything check on the sensors. Is it because I have no codes? I cleared them with a Edge Insight. I got it first and made the mistake of clearing the codes.
Well, the past 5 mornings (ambient temps in the 50's and 60's) I have had rough starts. The first 2 mornings the truck started, knocked around and died. Restarted rough for about 10 seconds then all is fine plus black smoke. The next 2 mornings I cycled the glow plugs 2 times before starting up and it ran fine, no black smoke and no rough running while driving for the first few seconds. This morning I didn't cycle the glow plugs 2 times... I just started it up normal but when I started to drive (about a minute after I started it) it sputtered and puffed black smoke for about 10 seconds then ran normal. I do not have a CEL but I do pick up the same code that I had when I started this thread which is "P0261 Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Lo" when I use my scanner to look at impending codes. I don't have any lack of power or any other abnormal issues while driving. Is this the #1 injector finally taking a dump? When its warm it starts with no issues at all... including no black smoke.
I cycled the key 3 times this morning and it started up ok but when I switched on the high idle switch it started to run rough and puff out some black smoke. I let it idle for a couple of minutes with the switch off then headed down the road... it ran a little rough for a few seconds then cleared up. I've been researching failed Injectors and what I have found is that the truck will experience low power. My power is fine after the rough running has gone away. With the price of injectors I don't want to replace it if that's not the issue. Fuel filters were replaced just over 5,000 miles ago and oil was changed about 1,000 miles ago.
the dealer can tell u if it is injectors for about$100 I have multiple scan tools and could never find my injector issue ,, however that was before A/E improved their contribution test

Thanks Zmann, unfortunately funds are tight so I have to figure this one out on my own. This morning it took 30 minute's to get it started. Ambient temp was about 65 degrees. When it finally fired it ran very rough puffing out blackish gray smoke that filled the driveway area. I let it idle for a couple of minutes then drove away. For the nest few minutes it would blow out black smoke (Not a lot) when I would leave a stop sign then it ran normal. I scanned again for codes and now my scan tool doesn't have any codes not even the initial "P0261 Cylinder 1 Injector Circuit Low" code???
