Has anyone heard if Ford is going to offer a diesel (7.3) in the 2000 edition?

I seriously doubt it. Theres no way they could fit the motor inside the engine bay. And They would have to Beef-up the frame. In otherwords, don't look for one too soon...

isn't the 7.3 in the excursion, not expedition??

The 7.3 won't be offerd in the Expys, but
Ford is coming out with an all new "Baby Diesel"
for 2002, a 4.5L V-6 Powerstroke. It will be offerd in the F-150, and E- series as well.

Do you know any Stats on the "new" diesel? Like if Navistars making it, horsepower, etc?

If you want true info re: diesel engines, more power for the 2002 1/2 Navigator, the diesel that will be offered for the Expedition in (I think) 2001 or 2002 go to:

Find out about 'piston slap' on 97 & 98 engines (5.4l only) and how some people are getting either getting FQR rebuilt engines or new 99, 260 ponies (you have to do some digging under 'Engines' discussion group).

We know all about this stuff because we've had our 97 in for 42 repairs (including a new tranny and steering), 38 repair days and over $10,000(cdn). We are currently slated for independant arbitration October 27 to demand a 'buy-back'
