I was taking a peak at my '06 F250 and it looks like the floorpan design is exactly the same where the seats mount front and rear. There are a few more bolts in the front. Has anyone put front captain's chairs with the little middle seat from the front in the back of one of these trucks and lived to tell the tale?! thanks!
I can't say it will work on your '06, but it works on the '97 F250 we have at work. When the front seat became ripped, they removed it, and to keep the truck operational while the upholstery shop had the seat, the simply swapped the rear seat into the front. Bolted right up.
I have seen a couple of used 99-04 SDs on used car lots that were some kind of special edition Lariat and had the same captain's chairs and console front and back.
That brings up another point: my Lariat back seat folds up and has a neat metal tray underneath for stuff you don't want on your carpet. If I could bolt in a front seat in the rear, that would have to go, plus I'm pretty sure it would have less legroom since the front seats are much thicker than the rears.

I know exactly what you're talking about. That would be pretty cool to have as a people mover - nice and comfortable. I am not sure what I would like better though, the bench for the flip-up feature with fold-flat storage (utility) or the seats and console (comfort). I guess seeing as I am always in the drivers seat, except for rare occasions, it doesn't really matter
As to the OP's question about flipping around the seats - I am not sure. If the bolt patterns are the same, or mostly the same, you could try it. Might be a fun weekend project - a case of brew and a couple buddies.
Are all the back bench seats the same (flip up with fold flat storage) or does the variation change any (besides on the Cabelas edition)?
