ok i have a 97 f250 h.d 5.8 4x4. looking to run a true duel exhaust, but i am having some problems with the headers. i am pretty sure that the 96 and 97 are the same, but theres different part numbers for a 95. i do still run the egr, but the smog pump is gone (air tube runs into manifold on drivers side and not back of heads that i can see) just wondering what headers with egr bung (on pass side) would work (preferably long tubes if they will clear the transfer case and not boil tranny fluid). i also imagine that both pipes and mufflers would have to run down and exit on the pass. side due to the transfer case and duel gas tanks. also wondering on what are good mufflers (not crazy loud) i was thinking 2 magnaflows and MAYBE some high flow cats. on yea the exhaust dia. will be 2.5"
I'm not sure on the headers, but I don't see what the differences would be. I do remember guys saying that if you have a 97 that most of the time it was easier to ask for some parts for the 95 or 96 trucks.
The reason some of the 96 parts are different from 95 is because that is when they switched to OBDII from OBDI. So the F150 parts will be different. Since you have a 97 F250, it should be OBDI still.
Does your truck O2 sensors or anything else connected to the manifolds? If it does, you will want headers with the same provisions.
Magnaflow mufflers would be a great choice. I have Magaflow on mine. I will say that if you get the longer ones it will be deeper. I would run at least 2.25 pipes if not 2.5 inch pipes.
You will want to run both pipes down the passenger side and have your mufflers installed on their side so the will fit side by side.
just got my headers in! but i am going to run 2.5 true duels, 2 high flow cats (small ones) and 1 muffler (magnaflow 2 in 2 out) believe the body is 24 inches long. http://s1232.photobucket.com/albums/...stv/?start=all
