A Ford-o-matic from an Yblock, if you can find one and make it work--which you probably can.
A later model ('88-'93 are the better ones) AOD attached via an $850 adaptor, which gives you a flexplate, adaptor, starter and hardware. See it here, about halfway down the page.

Looks like the same kit, but C4 only kit available if I'm reading correctly, and he has Chev trans options if you like the ratios in the 700r:

Seems like someone here put an E4OD on a 292, but I'd have to search that one out for hours I think....
