If I had two I'd be the king
My '52 F1 pitman arm has a ball on the end of it. Is this ball supposed to be round or kind of flattened?
Someone told me it is supposed to be flat. If that is true then I don't need a new pitman arm.
Any body have the answer?

My opinion is it is supposed to be round, I'm going by the one on my 49. I presume they should be the same. Hope this helps you out.

It's supposed to be round.

The drag link end has two concave caps that fit around the ball that are under strong spring pressure.

That type of wear will contribute to loose steering and may (if it gets bad enough) cause the drag link binding.

Normally they wear out of round or develope a burr and can be dressed. If yours is that flat it probably needs to be replaced.

Yes, it would be typical on any vehicle with this type of steering system.
