When accelerating even a little the ABS light comes on and the speedo drops out when that happens it tries to shift. If you accelerate hard it downshifts and the light stays on. If climbing a small hill for example it jerks unless you take foot off accelerator or step on it. Possibly related the switch on shifter does not take it out of OD and no light. I tried to replace the VSS on rear diff.

I've come across this thread doing a search for the same issue.
My issue is 'similar" , but not quite the same.
I have a 2002 ford 5.4, 4x4 auto, with a 4" lift, purchased that way.
This problem seems to only happen when under a load, via pulling a loaded trailer or having a loaded up bed.
Recently I had a 3pt snowblower in the bed, that i just purchased.
Heading home, the ABS light would come on and the speedo would drop
to almost zero, the ABS would go out and speedo would resume speed.
This would continue until I got home.
As it would do this, the truck would jerk, as if a coil misfire had been encountered, loss of power. The truck would also hesitate from idle.
When I got home, the ABS light was a steady 'on"...
After removing the blower from the bed, and turning the truck around,
the ABS light went out and stayed off.
Any ideas on this....
