I've always did as much assembly as possible before doing the overall painting. I painted the inside the door, hood openings and fender edges, just like Ilya described, making sure everything fits. I don't like trying to assemble painted parts because they're too easy to scratch as you putting them together. If you scratch an some what hidden area it's easier to touch up without being able to notice. I also mask the inside of the door frames, trunk and hood openings to prevent getting dusty overspray on the inside edges. The best way I've found is to use masking tape up to the edge of the area, leaving a little extra over the edge and then folding it over. This helps to prevent a hard edge of paint forming.
OK Scott, let's get technical. I still use newspaper for masking.
Lol, Sorry, Bob. That wasn't a knock, but threw it out there in case anyone was looking for more info on it. Dang, I feel like some certain individual is rubbing off on me.
Nice, but I would go with the red on the raised center of the hood like it the pickup sketch to bring a touch of red into the upper 1/2, makes it not look like the top 1/2 of one and the bottom 1/2 of another of different colors were welded together.
just needs to be color sanded, the owner came down this morning and i showed him the truck, and he was thrilled. We have to spray the frame, black also which i didnt know needed to be done. hopefully next week this truck will be done
