Repacking 6'' Procomps for 4'' + flex?
Repacking 6'' Procomps for 4'' + flex?
Just got a 6'' Procomp lift (springs only) for next to nothing for my Bronco. I already have a 4'' lift, a cheap Rancho one, with blocks in the rear.. I don't feel like going to 6'' just yet, the replacement tires would kill me, it's cold outside and the labor would kill me, it's too hard to get into and the girlfriend would kill me, etc.. too many reasons to list them all
I have to replace my rear axle before winter anyways, I'm going to hate putting the blocks back in when I do this. I think I'm just going to repack the Procomps to give me 4'' of lift, more flex than stock (I know they're stiff as is), to get that stupid block out from under my leafs.
Anyone have any advice so I don't have to do a million tests fits in the middle of winter in my driveway, with neighbors who already hate my Bronco because it's always under the wrench?
I've repacked leavs on my F150 before, it turned out really well, but it was summer and I had different neighbors, I spent a week testing different fits and combinations.
Anyways, should I remove the overload? center spring? top? multiple? heh, just give me a best guess, if I can get it acceptable in one try, i'd be very happy. My best guess would be to drop the overload spring, but I'm not sure it will make 2'' of difference by itself.

Pull the overload at least. Probably one more, but no way to know without test fitting.
For the time being, and if you're not against it, you could just do a shackle flip in the rear when you swap your axle. Only 8 rivets out, and 8 bolts in, and you get rid of the blocks until you want to deal with the 6" lift. Just a suggestion for a quick fix.
