This may be thinking too far outside the box, but was any consideration given to the fact it may be easier to move the gas pedal farther away from the brake pedal, instead, if indeed there truly is a problem here?
Any one have ideas on how to move the brake pedal farther away from the gas pedal on a 56 f100 automatic?
Is your pedal a hanging one or does it still go through the floor? I have a hanging pedal and will have to cut the tab the pedal bolts too off and flip it to the opposite side and reweld it, if that's not enough I'll give a little bend to the arm.

There you go making sense again!
It's going to be kind of hard to gain more space between the gas pedal and steering column no matter where yo utry and move the brake pedal.
I'm with Wayne, I'd move the gas pedal out and inch or so. Much easier to do.
Are you doing it for how the pedals are in relation to each other when you use them or do you need to adjust the spacing on the underside?
Being a blacksmith I'd just work the arm till it was where I wanted. Or you could maybe make a custom bracket that holds on the pedal (not the arm but the circle pad) and have it move over a couple inches. Just an idea, would need to be done solid so it didn't break.
I have worked on several vehicles over the years that had equipment installed for handicapped persons, one such system had a palm operated brake pedal.
Having an Automatic trans is a decided advantage (I also know a person missing one leg who drives a 4wd-4 speed manual trans..)
If one was to mount a lever to the upper part of the steering column,..then an adjustable rod from one end of that lever to the brake pedal and the other to a palm control you would be in business...
Takes some getting used to I must admit..the 2nd driver will need to "re-learn " how to operate the vehicle I would guess. I just drove them in and out of the shop..didn't trust my "un-trained" self on the highway..where there's a will, there's a way!
