Trouble code

Ive got a check engine light thats on almost all the time and idk where to go to put it on a computer or what kind of computer i need. I know autozone has the computers but i think they only have the obd II computer for 1996 and newer computers.

Ive got a 1989 f150.

AOD
4X4
im hoping that this problem will help with my 11-12 mpg....thanks

You don't need a reader, can be done with a paper clip.

or if you really want a code reader I use this one on my 89 F250 for about 25 bucks.

I use the Equus Innova 3145. Its great because you don't have to try and count flashes/beeps. The method from ford fuel injection does work as well. Both good ideas.
