Differences between the Excursion and F Series Pickups?

Differences between the Excursion and F Series Pickups?
Obviously the body and interior of the Excursion is different that the F250's and 350's but is the rest of the vehicle more or less the same? Frame, Axles, Transfer Cases, Transmission, Engine bay and firewall distances, Exhaust, Suspension etc?
I'm primarily interested in the 2000 - 2003 7.3 Diesel and wondering if all of the diesel upgrades I see for the F Series pickups will bolt right on to the Excursion 7.3???
If there are differences what are some of the most note worthy?
