I suspect you mean the 239 and 256 which are the 1954 Ford Merc one year wonders; altho they were both used into 55 in trucks.
Two different foundries, Dearborn/Cleveland, produced 3 different 239 blocks with limited interchange compatibility.
Different heads and intakes than the 272 and up.
The 256 is the easier to get parts if it is a late 54, 223 6 cyl pistons will work as well as later heads/intake as a set.
239/256 cranks are the same.
239 thru 292 rods interchange but you need to be careful about bearings.
