Headlights Flashing

Ive had a few issues with my headlights flashing, esp. after driving like 45 min or longer with them on. The first time it happened when i switched the high-beams on and they began flashing. I thought it might be because i just put a radio amp in and it was drawing too many volts. Then last night it did the same thing but with the low-beams on. I turned the amp off, the volt meter read normal, but still no improvement.

I felt the headlight switch and it was very warm. Ive had it go bad on me before, it was almost completely melted. Do you think its the switch again??? Is it just a coincidence that this is occuring after i installed a new amp?? I thought i read about people adding a relay to take some of the load off of the switch. Does any one have any instructions on this??

Yea my 94 did that, you can get a replacement harness connector for the switch if you wanted to go that route.

You could probably also get one from a self service wrecking yard. I've often scavenged various wrecks for broken or melted connectors, plus it's cheap!

napa carries both the switch and the plug. i changed both in my 88 around 13 years ago when i put relays in the light circuit, it's been fine ever since.

I agree about running the headlight relays. It will make the lights a little brighter and take the load off of the headlight switch. I got the one from LMC

Do that and get a pair of GE Nighthawk (not sport) or Sylvania Xtravision bulbs and you'll have alot better lights, provided that your lenses are in good shape.
