I got a Ranger w/3.0liter auto built date 06/99 with the 8th digit being "V". Anyhow the cam position sensor gear wiped out and stopped turning the oil pump. I was lucky and caught within seconds and luckly no damage. But I got the engine out and looked at the main and rod bearings. Everything looks good(actually awesome for 126,000 miles). So now I'm goin throw rod and main bearings in it and a oil pump new sensor and timing chain(cause it needs one) and gaskets I want to leave the upper end alone So does anyone know how I can get torque values and tolerances easily without buying any books...
i would just spend the money on the books and look at it as an investment. you have to have one if youre doing that kind of work. because even though you know what youre doing, you didnt design the thing
i bought factory ford 1997 aerostar/ranger powertrain, drivetrain, body and chassis, and powertrain control/ emission diagnosis books. they are huge. total i spent only 40 dollars on them because one of them got partial water damage. but its totally legible, and paid for themselves. plus since i dont like to have to always search through thousands of pages to find what i need, i have a $20 haynes book from autozone that i use as a quick reference.
I do agree. However I'm 2 cents from being the poorest person in America. It would be sweet to have a copy of the manual from online for free. And yes guys everyone would love to have stuff for free. Just trying to dig into your minds for any info or direction on getting a service manual online...
