Chevy Seats in a Ford??
Chevy Seats in a Ford??
I would like to put a new seat in my truck, and am looking at the 40/20/40 out of the Chevy trucks. There are tons of them on Ebay, and I really like the integrated seatbelts and the fold down center console. I cant imagine it would be that difficult, but has anyone tried or had any luck (good or bad) at doing this swap?
I worked with a guy that was putting a GM seat out of a Yukon in his 85 f150 and he said he had to do alot of fabrication of brackets. And it was kind of a PITA he said. Seat went in and out of his truck a bunch of times to get everything right. All the seats in 1980-1996 f-series have the same bolt pattern for the seats. I have an 86 f-350 with the seat and floor mat out of a 94 f-250. I found both in the same truck in the junk yard. I think I paid $100 for both.
I know, I know...the whole GM parts thing is heretical. I was not aware of the 1996 convertible seats, I will have to look into that. My other main reason was the integrated seat belts. My passenger belt is so short that people have trouble using it, and the drivers side rubs against my neck while driving.
