Shock Absorber

Do our trucks require a heavy duty shock absorber or will any F-250 shock absorber do? Any suggestion on a brand or style? Rock Auto has a bunch on closeout... I don't think I necessarily need them but for the price, it's worth replacing.

thanks!

The problem you will find with shocks is that manufacturers try this one size fits all crap. It doesn't work. For example, I got the incorrect shocks for my 97 F250 4x4 and 94 F350 4x4 from Rancho. The 250s shocks were too long and the 350's were too short but I swapped them on the two trucks and they worked. Go figure. They were the correct part number. Also for back shocks, make sure they come with the proper steel sleeve for the bottom of the bushing. Thank god I have a lathe because for all three of our trucks the 93, 94 and 97, I had to turn the proper ones out of some bar stock. The shocks didn't come with one even close to fitting right. When you put the bolt through the bottom you want the spacer to fit tight in the bushing and the bolt to just barely slide through the spacer. If the bolt wiggles in it then your wife will be pissed at how harsh it rides. Trust me on this.
