Just took my 99 Exp XLT 4.6 (15,000 miles) to the dealer for some minor repairs today. Had some gremlins in the wipers and a small oil leak. Tonite the service mgr. informed me that my truck has a blown head gasket. The truck runs great! The engine has to be repaired or replaced and the dealer has never replace an engine in an Exp before. (Great!) I have to see what Ford Co. is going to do about it first. At least it under warranty. Now i get to ride around in my tiny go-cart of a rental car for who knows how long?
Wish me luck in this adventure from Ford Motor Co.
I took my 99 expy (4x4 EB) in to have an oil leak checked and was told by the dealer they pulled the heads and were replacing the head gasket. Is this a common problem for expeditions w/ less than 30,000 miles? Does anyone have any ideas as to what would cause the problem?
let me tell you about gremlins under the hood!
i bought my 97 expedition brand new with 3 miles on it. at exactly 125,444 it all fell victim of gremlins. within two weeks i replaced my engine the starter then transmission then altinator and it only got worse....
then we changed idler pulley twice, tensioner pulley twice, serpentine belt, all gas lines, all pumps and wires at least three more times..
it keeps getting worse...
finally i finished with a new stearing gear and stearing arm and a new exhaust manifold and lets not forget quite a few new sensors....
now my truck is new again... glad i love it!!
they say never buy the first year of a new model.
our 99's engine got replaced with 17,000 miles and then the engine was not put in right and the transmission leaked, the the intake manifold went all within 2 months. the dsb board made ford buy it back just a couple of weeks ago and now i just bought a 2000. hope this one last for a while cause i hate dealing with the dealerships who dont really care.
