You need to read up on the hard start/no start threads. It is most likely your high pressure oil system, but not sure about the fuel smell. Your injectors are run off of a high pressure oil pump and there are components that are prone to leak. If that is the case - your truck will be hard to start, and when the oil get hot - thinner, it will shut down due to lack of pressure.

You will need to take it to a shop that knows the 6.0L or your ford dealer and let them run diagnostics.

Sounds more like a leaking ICP but the fuel smell is an odd problem. you really need to spend some time under the hood and see if you have a loose fuel line. Any check engine lights? See if the oil is coming from the rear drivers side of the engine.
