Sway bar ?

I drive a 1991 f150 rear wheel drive, which has no sway bars and never did. I occasionally tow heavy (~2500#) loads, but I use it mostly for commuting in the city.

I recently acquired a REAR sway bar from a 1986-91 Bronco for free, from my job at the boneyard.

Seeing as how it would cost me the same ($0 + labor) to use it or not, should I install it? Would it be worth the effort to remove the FRONT sway bar from the Bronco, which is now sitting on the brake discs and could kill me if I tried to jack it up? I guess some of us live and die by Ford lol, but I personally am not keen on jacking up vehicles sitting in soft mud.

Front sway bar only on a pickup is fine but rear bar only is a handling disaster, so you want both or none at all.

"never did"? Should have at least had a front bar as OEM.

What all entails installing front/rear s-bars on a truck originally without? What kind of benefits will I see, aside from better maneuverability ?

For what it's worth, my brother's '91 half-ton doesn't have sway bars on either end. I can't for the life of me figure out why Ford did that...even my dad's '50 Ford business coupe has a FRONT bar!

Most of our trucks didn't come with sway bars.

Don't run just a rear one. I would keep the rear though and save it for when you get a front one.

I added them to my truck and can say that its a huge improvement.

I really am interested in installing the front and rear anti-sway bars for my truck, LMC Truck sells the 2wd sway bars for $179, and the end link assembly is sold seperately....My question is how that I actually install it to the truck, what it actually attaches to, etc...

Just for the record, my 91 F150 XLT Lariat Supercab, with factory trailer towing package came with front and rear anti-sway bars.

The rear factory sway bar is easy to install. The factory front is a bit more invloved. I just bought a Hellwig for the front.

Factory mounts may differ from Hellwig, unless the Hellwig is to replace a stocker. My rear bar for the E150 had the link mounts clamp to the frame.

The factory mounts are different than the Hellwig mounts. Thats why I bought the front one from Hellwig. It was much easier to install. To add a factory front one, the spring has to be removed and the end link bracket mounts under it to the radius arm and I beam.

In the rear they are different but I think they mount to the same location.
