rear brake lines

i had one brake line break on me after removing it and running to the parts place i discovered that the 3/16 factory line has bigger fittings than the ones that come on the 3/16 lines from to parts places. While looking at the ones they had i noticed that the fittings on the 1/4 inch lines appear to be the right size.

Would using the larger diameter line hurt anything?

As a temporary fix i used one of my old ranger but the other line on my bronco doesn't look in the best of shape so i am figuring it needs to be replaced as well.

Are you talking about the brass fittings on metal lines? If so, no it does not hurt anything. if you are talking about the rubber lines, im not sure. just remember that if one needs replaced, its a good idea to replace them all. I got mine from advance auto, and i think they were almost the same as stock.

yes the fittings on the metal lines

i checked advanced but the fittings on the 3/16 lines are smaller then i went to napa and found that the 1/4 lines had fittings of the same size.

What I'm concerned about is the larger diameter line putting more pressure into the wheel cylinder.

I have seen differnt size fittings on the same size line before. The best thing to do would be to just check to see if the actuall line itself is the same size...if it is, then you have no problem because no matter what size fitting is on the end, the same amount of pressure is limited to that size line. The brass fitting just connects the line, and has no affect on performance. If the line itself is a differnt diamiter, then there might be a slight pressure differance. In that case, the best thing for you to do would be to replace both lines with the same diamiter line, or just find the "stock" size diamiter. Just make sure the thread pattern on the fittings are the same as the wheel cylinder threads, or it will mess it up.

So, the main things are the line diamiter, and the thread pattern. Otherwise, it should be good
