Heated Mirrors?

Anybody have them? Would it be possible to pop the mirror off and stick some type of element or bulb back there?

It always seems like our style of mirrors ice up worse than the SD's or other vehicles.

Thoughts?

I feel like that could easily be done. I'd start looking into how the newer vehicles heat there headlights etc...

On my dads truck he just put a little 12 volt light bulb in each one. The kind that just snaps into a half inch hole. I did it on mine too and it worked great. He lives in Md so he sees some cold out there. We did this on the factory west coast type mirrors. The glass doesn't come out very easy so I wouldn't recommend trying that. It's easier to drill a hole in the bottom.

Pictures?

So you drilled a hole in the bottom side of the mirror? Would a small bulb like that give off enough heat?

Do you have towing mirrors with the top peice and two lower bars? A tree helped me make up my mind on putting heated mirrors on the 96 for plowing snow.
Left the door bracket on, used some round stock to make a bracket to attach the mirror. The doors are pre holed for the wiring for the little power mirrors so I drilled thru the top piece of the door bracket and ran the wires thru the door to the dash etc..... Took the mirrors off one of my old busses, probably 6x9's or so
