i have a 1979 f150 ranger xlt, all lights work until u turn the headlights on then the right side blinker wont work or light up. is it the headlight switch, blinker switch or something else.please help
Since it works part of the time and you've got somebody saying they had the exact same problem and fixed it with an $8 socket, I think I'd try that first.
The left rear blinker and brake light wouldn't work when the headlights were on.
I tried a new headlight switch, turn signal switch, brake switch (less than a year ago) and bulbs. Didn't fix it. Traced the wiring and made sure all grounds I could find were OK, including the ones at the front where the headlights and front turn signals are. A cheap $6 circuit tester works well enough.
Put in a new socket and it fixed it. (I had tried that first, but didn't work...I'm thinking it was bad to begin with, or I had the bulb in wrong as the aftermarket jobs let you put it in either way. Bought a second one and it cured my problem.)
