Hello! I was just wanting to know how much success this tool actually is. I bought my BEAUTIFUL USED 05 Ford Expedition in April. The car salesman told my husband they did a tune up on it when they got it in...it's November and we started having problems starting it last week. At first, it wouldn't start on the first turn-it took a few turns. I talked to a friend (also a Ford owner) and he said it sounded like the spark plugs. A couple of days later the service engine light came on. My husband took it to a garage and they told him it was coding for the "fuel sensor". Then they referred us to another garage that had the BIG scanner. When we got there they scanned it (charged $45) and said the only code they were getting was one for the spark plugs (#7), so me in my told-you-so face laughed at my husband as we went to the parts store. We purchased the Autolite brand of spark plugs and had a mechanic "friend" replace them. All went well until he got to #7 (the one that came up in the scan). He tried and tried and finally the plug came out (broken-without the electrode shield on it). He went on to take out #8 successfully. He said we needed to take it to a Ford Dealership and they would be able to get it out. In the meantime he put the old one back in and we ran well. We called the nearest dealership and the guy told me he didn't know what I was talking about and that I would have to bring it in and they would hook it up to their computer to diagnose the problem-that visit would be a minimum ($90). Then they could tell me what's wrong with the vehicle and try to fix it-if they can.
At this point I was frustrated and started doing online research on how to get this broken spark plug out. Only to find that this is a common problem with the 5.4 Engines!!! I did find the Lisle tool online along with another much more expensive tool-Ford Rotunda 303-1203. Since it is near Christmas I am opting for the cheaper tool but want to make sure it will be successful before making unnecessary purchases.
I'm attaching a link to the picture of what my spark plug looks like just to make sure you know what I'm talking about (it's the one in the middle). Thank you for your help!!

You posted the link to the thread, not the link to the image. http://f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?t=328090
That's why it did show up in your post. Oh and yes, the Lisle 65600 tool works just fine. You can search this forum for Lisle and find many posts where people have used it successfully.
I have been stressing this whole ordeal!! Someone told us we would have to take it to Ford just to get it out-so we called Ford and they told us it would take a few hours, they would have to take apart the head and it would cost about $1500! I almost cried!! Then I started doing some research about the Lisle tool and ordered it. It should be here today and I hope we have success!!!!

They flat out lied to you! No one, and I mean no one, pulls a head off one of these trucks and reinstalls it in a few hours. I guarantee you they planned on using the same extraction tool we're talking about here, and then charge you $1,500 for 2 hours of work, while claiming to have pulled the head in order to fix it.
Just do the math...even if their shop rate is $150 an hour, at 3 hours that's only $450 in labor and maybe $100 in materials (spark plug, gaskets, coolant, etc.) The job would've been around $550 if they were straight with you and honest.
i had the same thing happen with my 06 lincoln mark lt, i bought the lisle tool and it worked beautiful, used champion one piece plugs and resold the tool on ebay for a small loss, just go exactly by the directions and you will be amazed.
