This probably isn't what you think but i cant be alone here. Just received my Dashdaq with tunes and spent some quality time re-thinking my decision to void my warranty. Took about an hour....but I'm one of those willing to "pay if you play".
Installed the 150hp dpf on tune because I don't have the time yet to install the dpf/doc delete and intake. Once I made the decision I was all in, I thought. The install was nerve racking to say the least. Read the directions several times but was still incredibly nervous as it happened. It took right at the 32 minutes. Just like I was told. During that time I couldn't help but pucker a bit as the heart and soul of my truck was pulled out and saved to an SD card. I had a moment of panic as the Dashdaq told me it was erasing the computer modules.
The wife approached the truck once and I yelled to her to not open the door because I thought it might cause a power drain and screw something up. The warnings and even the messages from the programmer are stern to say the least.
Long story short......Like most, I can't believe this is the same truck. The congested, slow turbo spool feel is gone. It responds like a V-8 of half the weight. Shifts have firmed up and it feels like I'm mashing the throttle when I drive it normally. Just clean and smooth, with power to spare.
It can only get better from here. Oh ya, told the wife it would improve the mileage...........haven't seen that yet.
Need a good run down on the parameters you guys watch and more importantly the high limit warning numbers for them. Thinking of starting a thread just for the gauge programming.
Sorry to say but your story made me laugh, haha. Glad your initial reactions are that it was a good idea, in fact it was a GREAT idea. As you said it's hard to believe it's the same truck and it only gets better once the DPF is gone and you turn up the juice. I don't recall the high and lows but someone will probably chime in with the #'s. I watch my Engine Oil Temp, Transmission Temp, Engine Coolant Temp, Exhaust Gas Temp, and my Fuel Rail Pressure. I also monitored torque converter slip for awhile but gave that one up. The possibilities are endless and you will enjoy the ability to monitor everything at once and the ease of setting up the DD once you get used to it. I would suggest getting a user name and password for Spartans site as there is some great info on there and you'll find answers to most (if not all) the questions that you might have. Good luck and congrats on making the decision on the tuner, you won't regret it.
The Spartan Forum does have all that info in a "sticky note". Since you're not running anything "race", you don't NEED to monitor anything. Of course you MAY monitor just about anything you like. All Ford safety parameters are still in use with the tunes until you get in the 250 and up tunes. If you're gunna do the big tunes, then you should get used to watching you coolant temp., oil temp., trans temp., and EGT's. All those things plus a couple other parameters are on (or should be) the default gage setting. The 150 DPF on is the 1st tune I used. Ran it for about a year. then did the DOC/DPF delete. Well, as you stated "it can only get better from here". Never were truer words spoken...
It's been fun to say the least. I'm set up on the Spartan site and will have a better look around to find some numbers. The dashdaq all by itself is an incredible tool.
