Front-End Noise ???
I will try to explain my issue the best i can so here it goes.
Going down my dirt road going 10 mph never faster than 15 when i go over small to large bumps i get a grinding noise in the front end that i can kinda feel in the steering wheel. Almost sounds like its coming from the gear box or P/S pump. My foot is off the gas when i hut the bumps and it makes the noise. If i accelrate when i hit the bumps the noise gets a bit worse. I get the same noise in two diffrent areas other than the dirt road hitting bumps.
One of them is while towing ..... If im towing and come up to a stop light as soon as i stop not moving at all the noise starts.... If i turn the wheel left or right the noises gets worse. If i hold down the brake and acclerate it goes away.
Seccond one is while my truck is lugging. Example.... Running 45mph in o/d start climbing a hill truck slows to 40 or 42 dose not down shift stays in o/d running 1100 to 1300 rpm i get the same noise.
This is compleatly mind boggeling to me. I replaced the P/S pump last year. I really cant figure this out. I got a few things i can think of
1. Hydroboost system
2. Steering Gear Box.
3. Bad pully somewhere
4. Bad Belt Tensioner / Pully
I dont know how to tell if the above are bad I have never had a problem with any of them so maby one of these is bad and i just dont know.
I would really appericate all the help i can get on this one. I just have no clue at this point. Sorry for writing a book.
Thanks FTE
The noise gets better when i accelerate not worse... I barley even touch the gas going down the dirt road. Just Idle. Today it was making the noise idleing at like 10mph i pressed the gas and it went away.
