Differences in the heads

When did the 302 heads go with larger water passages? Also when did they change to pedestal rockers Is there a problem with bolting an EFI setup on the older heads with small outer water passages?

Differences in the heads

I'm pretty sure only the 289 HiPo heads were the only ones that had screw in studs, otherwise all the heads had pedastol mount rockers. As long as the emissions stuff and the EGR stuff is all compatible, all the 289/302/351 heads are compatible, except that the 351 heads are drilled for 1/2" bolts, but you can get reducers for them, so you can use the 7/16" bolts that 289/302 heads use on a pair of 351 heads. Another difference you might have is accessory bolt location, make sure the heads are drilled for your accessories.

Differences in the heads

I'd have to double check the books, but I think they changed to the large rectangular water hole in '75, when there ceased to be any difference between 351 & 302 heads ( they did away with the 4 extra intake manifold bolt holes on the 351W ). They changed to the 351C fulcrum style rockers in '77 ( I think ).
