They really improved towing. I didnt go over the trucks rating, but it towed much better by taking the 'flex' out of the springs. they installed in about 15 minutes with normal tools.
On the dodge you remove the rear bump stop, configure the timbren to a height that best meets your needs, then you just install it back where the bump stop was. That way when the springs are compressed under load, the truck sits on the bushings as apposed to flattening (and making wobbly) the springs. I towed my 8k camper to Myrtle Beach from Augusta, GA white knuckle the whole way, then went back into Florence, SC to pick them up. Installed them at the beach and towed it back with a much more comfortable feeling. Then when I wasnt pulling the camper I just pulled them off.
I've had them on four different fords for the past several years and they work as advertised. I haul heavy loads daily and would recommend them to everyone, they are the "poor mans" air bag system.
I don't have them on the Ford, but I do have them on my wife's 4Runner. It took the squat out of the suspension when the boat is hooked up and helped it sit level when towing. Definitely worth the money.
