6.9 glow plug problem
Hey guys, have a 1987 F250 diesel, 4WD, 360,000 miles, yep thats right 360,000 miles. Latley a problem with starting, , glow plugs not staying on long enough to start in cold weather. Pulled glow plugs all had contintunity, checked each plug wire, all were getting current, replaced relay,, no change, replaced water temp switch which is in the wiring loop for the glow plugs,, no change. Any more suggestions?

check the battery voltage. It can cause to long of a glow time and kill your plugs and can also cause to short of a glow time. Clean the heck out of all conections and grounds. I had a 6.9 that was bullet proof but the glow system had a lot to be desired. good luck.
