problems with the 79
i have a 79 f250 supercab 4x2 ranger xlt. It has 66000 orig miles on the 460 and runs just fine. the interior is like new. It has some hidden issues though. the king pins need replacement, the brakes stick, there is an electrical short, and the gas tank is rotted. the bed is shot, but other than that there are no real cosmetic issues. im trying to sell it and dont know if it would make more sense to put in some money, to get more, or just sell it as is for around $1100. the body not including the bed is in fair to good condition, so is it worth possibly more than 1100 as is? i have a picture in the user gallery of it.
I got a good deal on a tank and king pins, and i am going to check out the short issue. what do you guys think i should do? i would love to keep it but i have no where to work on it and the 460 is no hybrid.
so anyway is it worth to put in a few hundred or not. oh yeah, how much should it cost to get the king pins installed, i never did them and dont have anywhere to mess with it right now anyway.
thanks
I'd pay 1100 for a truck in that shape.
well, I dont have the cash but hopefully you see my point. this era truck is one of the most overall reliable of the trucks ive owned. ive had 60s 70s 80s and 90s trucks. and the 70s trucks ive had were all lots cheaper to maintain and would put up with more abuse.
