just wondering how much ya'll think it cost to replace a blown door speaker in a 97 f-150?
i just listen to my music in stock speakers i ain't into that bass stuff
my son upgraded factory speakers in his 03f150 XL about 2 weeks after my drivers door 97f150 XLT speaker blew. The speaker connectors from 03 wont plug up to my 97 so i pulled the door panel and soldered one of his speakers to the existing speaker wires. The replacement sounds as good as new. maybe you can get an installation shop to give you or sell you cheap a new ford truck factory takeoff speaker . if not , get a pair of cheap speakers from best buy or where ever and slap one in.
Take a look at Bestbuy.com, Circiuitcity.com, and Crutchfield.com I'm sure you can find some low-end speakers for under $80. Be sure replace both speakers, or it will sound funny.
Seems like it doesn't take much to blow the factory speakers in these trucks.. Mine has the factory am/fm cassette with a 6-disc changer and all 4 speakers were blown when I purchased the truck. I spent $200 (with installation) down at Circuit City for a set of Infinity speakers. The sound is impressive, I can say for sure I don't have to turn the volume above halfway, but the bass isn't what I expected. The guys told me I'd have to get an equalizer to adjust it. EIther way they still sound great.
I was told those factory speakers are easy to blow also...
I was also told by AegisSailor that i might need to replace both speakers to make it sound right...I never heard of that but that could be a good tip...I know a place around here that does it and going to have them just put me one in..Hope it sounds ok I am not into loudness that much..I let my truck be the loudness..
The reason I mentioned getting a set instead of just one is because replacement speakers, even low end ones, will sound SO much better than the factory ones. If you only replace one then you have great sounding music in one ear and terrible sounding music in the the other. I just think it would be weird.
Anyway, if your into do-it-yourself projects, you can put your own speaker(s) in with nothing more than a screw driver and wire crimper, instead of paying somebody to do a 10 minute job. The door panel comes off easily.
I see what ya mean..I figure it would be a good investment to make just for good sound..
Good thing you told me about that.I sure will get two new front speakers
