I found this by accident just minutes ago, I couldn't sign up fast enough!
Hardly anyone in my life is into the older cars and trucks so it is nice to find a site like this.
I still have my first car! A 1957 two door sedan, I also have a 1927 model t coupe, a 1958 ford f-100 that I bought from my dad, he had for almost twenty years and it sat in the back yard for most of that! When I started working on it, I found a Navy tag on it, so I know it has a history. It has the 223 straight six and three on the tree (Which I'm changing to a granny four in the floor)
I also have a 1939 dodge panel truck (needing a right side headlight assembly)
I do have a couple questions, where would be the best place to get a rebuild kit for the motor?
The steel bed it rotted out pretty badly, any suggestions? I have thought about cutting the floor out of a later model truck bed, but will entertain any ideas.
Well that's it for now. Thanks for any replies in advance.
Thanks, that also reminds me that my exhaust manifold has the usual break and leaking pretty bad. Do they carry that as well?
I was only able to find a four barrel intake that is vary pricey.
Although the exhaust manifold on my 215 wasn't cracked, it cracked immediately after I reinstalled (after removing it to install the OFFY intake). The replacement that I had in my parts stash also had a minor crack, but it's in area that doesn't really affect anything and the crack was superficial. I had it welded, nonetheless.
You won't find the exhaust manifolds in reproduction. You'd have to hunt one down used. You're in luck, however, because I have several spares that I've collected over the years. None of vehm appear to have any cracks. They're heavy to ship, but I've shipped one before to another person from this forum.
I can't try to get it right now, I'm about to have a bypass surgery on my small intestines, so all the work on the truck will have to wait until I recover from that mess. Hopefully you will still have that at that time. I have to talk to the doctor friday about the surgery, and see when they want to do it.
What a time to find help with my project!
Your engine looks good though.
Welcome to the site. When you have time edit your profile and add where you are so it will appear in the upper right side of your post. Maybe someone close to you will have that manifold. As for the bed there are several people who have use the floor out of a modern truck bed. They have used everything from wood to diamond plate. Once you get 25 post you can use the search feature on here. Till then just google what your looking for and it will bring up post from this site. Again welcome and be sure and post pics of your truck. We love pics.
Welcome to the site! One of my other favorites is the Dodge like yours. There's a panel truck in a nearby town for $2500 (overpriced, IMO) that I'd love to have, but I'll just have to wait, lol.
