rear end ratios

My '73 F100 has a 240 ci motor with the C4 transmission. The rear end is the one that came with the truck, and I was looking to replace it with better "highway" gears. Any suggestions for what ratio I should be looking for? I don't do any heavy hauling with this truck and wanted to get better gas mileage. Thanks, G.Marks

G. 3.50 is about as low as I would go with that setup, 3.25 may take all of the pulling out of the truck.

Thanks for the information on the rear end. I'll check my catalogues to see what ring and pinion sets are available.
