Hey guys, after i restored my 77 f-100, i blew the engine and while inspecting it i found theat the tranny wasnt far behind. So i bit it and bought a freshly rebuilt 1986 351W, but my problem now is i have all these toys and i still dont have headers on this truck. I was wondering if headers for a 77 351 w would work, as there is barely any room for things to be different near the firewall, its a tight fit. Any help would be great, then i could play with my electronic drop valves for them ....cops oughtta like them.
hey i had to do the same thing with my headers..had to make a curved dent where to steering box was ...also had to trim some of the frame rail just a little for other side..but the was was for a 77 302 engine with automatic trans..the only thing i could find..they will work but might have to play with them..
i dont know if there are any frame differences between the f100 or f250 or not but i ran early style bronco headers on my 77 f250 with a hipo 289...the drivers side had to be clearanced a little at the collector to keep the driveshaft from hitting & the passenger side still left plenty of starter access...the passeger side collector was right beside the starter kinda pointing at the ground on a 45 degree angle...weirdest looking things i ever saw but they worked pretty well..i dont have the part # all i can tell you is they were hedmans...good luck...Chris
almost forgot..the pass side fit perfectly...drivers side only needed to be heated & bent about 1" to clear the driveshaft..cleared the z bar with no probs too
