Ok, approximately 2.5-3 months ago I started on an exhaust manifold leak and I found under my fender flares, that both front fenders were beyond repair. Also found the rad core support needed replaced. Took front clip off and began looking for parts while I fix exhaust leak. Decided to pull pass. side ex man and found the up pipe leaking and damaged. In the mean time having trouble locating core support. So I thought what the heck, I will pull turbo, fuel bowl, fuel pump and do some maintenance while it was easy to get to. I have replaced fuel pump, new hoses, all new o-rings in fuel bowl, fuel drain, and fpr. EBPV delete, hpx line installed, ccv mod. Finally got all together about 30 min ago and turned over for first time. No start, cranked for 15-20 seconds, plenty of juice, cranked over fast. Got out looked everything over and tried again. This time cranked for 20-30 seconds, oil pressure came up , but still no start. Looked everything over again and repeated, no start. Hooked up fuel psi gauge, cranked, oil psi up, no fuel psi. Checked everything over again, tried one last time, no start. Do you have to bleed the air out of fuel system? I filled the fuel bowl before I even tried to start engine. I can here glow plug solenoid click and gauge drops. Nothing major was disconnected while I did this work. I did do some welding, but the batteries were out, could I have fried pcm? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Found the fuel heater had loose connection, so unplugged after raising the question of how to repair and someone said it would be ok to just unplug. WTS lite comes on and everything acts like normal.
It took the electric pump on mine almost 30 seconds before it even tried to build pressure and another 30 before there was no bubbling sound coming from the tank. So make sure to keep the batteries charged and let the starter cool for a few minutes between cranks.
That is how I have been doing it, batterys on charge right now for the next go around. So you are saying to just keep turning it over let it cool and repeat until it starts?
Just went thru another round of cranking. Took gauge off and cranked until got fuel. Hooked gauge up and got 40 psi while cranking but still no start. Gonna wait to charge and unhook the gauge again and see it I get any air out.
