Fuel tank capacity

How many gallons is everyone fitting in their 26 gallon tank? I have filled up 3 times now when the message center says about 30 miles to empty. Each time I fit about 21 gallons or so. Is there a 3 gallon reserve?

You will get the 0 miles message with 4 to 5 gallons left in the tank. This is the single issue I have with what Ford has produced with this truck. Looking for fuel every 200 mile while towing certainly gets irritating, and often expensive. I solved the problem bt putting in a 51 gallon Titan OEM replacement, but I should not have to do this on a $50000 truck. I have discovered one thing that works better than most expected. The gallons used reading on the trip computer is quite accurate.

Mine isn't. I'm quite sure it is not counting fuel used for regen.

I reset one trip meter every time I fill up and calculate everthing by hand. I always put in more than the indicated gallons used.

I've had gallons used error from 2.2% to 8.3%. Not coincidentally, the MPG is always off by pretty much the exact same percentage.

I believe the variation is due to distance travelled on any given tank and how many regens. The 8.3% error came about when I filled up after only 190 miles and I figure there must have been a regen or two in there.

When I go 600+ miles on a tank it is reliably off by 7% and that's the number I use when looking at the gallons used to decide how much further I can go.

Example of a recent fill:
Indicated Gal Used : 28.9, Actual Gal Used: 30.582, Error 5.82%
Indicated MPG: 20.4, Actual MPG 19.263, Error 5.57%

That was actually by best tank. When corrected for odometer error it came to 19.648 mpg.

I fill up and am getting what you are, about four or five gallons left, even though I'm at zero miles. That's not very accurate. My mpg however is usually off by under .5 mpg. When I looked at my truck, I did something I have never done, not look a fuel capacity. I figured a cc sb would have at least the same as my 08 sc sb. Oops.

Alex, do you think regen is using that much fuel? I thought each regen used less fuel than previous ps generations.

That must be on the big tank on Long Boxes.

I surely can't get that many miles on a tank of fuel with my 26g tank.

I'm just making theories here based on what the Gal Used and MPG is telling me vs what the reality is. Maybe the error is due to something else?

At the end of the day, the actual MPG is very good. I just keep the error in mind when I look at gallons used so I know where things really stand.
