Part number help please
I have a 1986 F150 5.0 manual transmission. I suspect that my ECM is causing my overly advanced ignition timing. E6TF-12A650-Y1A is the number that is on it. It has paint marker writing on it so i suspect that it is not the original for the truck. 1FTEX15N8GKB79706 is the Vin. Can anyone tell me if this the right one for my truck? If not which would be the right one. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

All I can tell you is that E6 number you gave seems to be appropriate for your truck but I
found that via google which ultimately sent me to eBay, my CD doesn't include stuff like
that.
You can PM NumberDummy and include a hyperlink to this here thread and he might be
able to tell you more BUT he is most likely going to want the Calibration Code, he says this
was on a yellow tag on the radiator support near the radiator cap but, to be honest, I have
NEVER seen one on these 80-86 trucks which means they've been broken off or painted
over or otherwise removed.
Perhaps the DSO code from the lower RH corner of your Certification Label on the
driver's side door jamb will help narrow it down, it'll at least say California or not and
maybe it'll imply High Altitude or not, the rest would be a shot in the dark.
In later years, Ford made it a sticker on the driver's side door jamb.
I'm not positive about this but auto parts stores MAY be able to test yours.
If you fill out the rest of your profile, we'll know what part of the country you're in; this
doesn't guarantee the truck is originally from that area but it can help.

The truck is EFI and i bought the truck here in georgia from the original owner who also bought it from a local dealer. I googled the number and someone else has it listed as one from an auto and possibly a california one too. I just went and checked for those stickers and i do not have either one of those. I sure do enjoy that underhood retractable light.
