I am thinking about installing an EZ locker on the rear end of my 1996 f150 ext cab 4x4.
I am looking for any information on this.
It looks easy enough to install.
Thanks,
Gene

I have a Powertrax Lock right in the rear of my 94 Bronco and it is very similiar to the EZ locker. It was a very easy install and works very well off road. On road it takes a bit of getting used to, but it is money well spent in my opinion. Now it is not as strong as a locker that replaces the entire carrier like a Detroit or an ARB, but it will suffice for some moderate 4 wheeling. Heck when you break it, and if you wheel real hard you will, now you have an excuse to upgrade.

i bought the Genuine Gear version of the e-z locker, both made by Tractech, for the front 44ttb of my bronco and had nothing but problems with it. Drivetrain Direct sold me the unit. DO NOT buy from these guys, their support staff isn't very supportive. The problem i was experiencing was the spring loaded pins that engage/disengage the locker were chaffing and sticking, not allowing it to move freely and the teeth of the locker were stripping and ramping. had metal shavings everywhere, had to replace all bearings after about 50 miles worth of engagement in the dirt. this was professionally set up, too. whatever you buy, don't just get the cheapest from the lowest price guys, they're cheap for a reason! better to go with a Detroit Locker, IMHO. it is the best. if you regear to 4.10 or higher, you probably will need a new carrier anyways, another $50.

I put a powertrax no slip in my rearend. It was the fastest to put in since it just replaces the spider gears and it was only ten degrees out. Pricey at more than $400. If I had to do it over,I would have put a tractionlok with extra clutch plates in. Traction is phenominal. Haven't needed 4 wheel drive since. It is hard to get used to. My back tires wore out alot faster, it chirps ands shakes on turns if you give it gas, and won't steer straight if tire pressures and diameters aren't the same.
