I think you'll need truck 460 mounts. Pretty sure van frame will be different.

UPDATE.......I have pulled the 460 engine out of the bus and I purchased a motor mount kit from Hedman Headers Part# 9720 . I dont plan to rebuild the engine but i am going to replace the oil pump, rear main seal, and oil pan, valve cover, and exhaust manifold gaskets. The engine ran perfect before i removed it,but i just want to be safe with the oil pump. I also have a nice oil and trans cooler from the bus that i will retrofit onto the F250 . I still have to pull the engine out of the F250 but am going to do that this week, so i haven't looked at the drive shafts to see if it will interchange with the 1985 C6 from the bus. Would like to be able to use my old tranny but I've been told it won't fit, I won't know til I get it out. If anyone has any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated.

Just pulled the 360 out of the F250 and im scraping the 42 years worth of oil and dirt from the engine comp. and painting it up a little. i have the 460 ready to go. A lot of things really came in to focus when I pulled the motor out of the F250. For anyone that is planning to take on this project, nothing from the 460 truck will interchange with your factory FE engine tranny combo. YOU MUST take every thing you can from the doner truck. I purchased a motor mount kit from Headman Headers for $160.00 (Trans Dapt part # 9720) It is a really cool project and is worth the effort but plan on spending anywhere from $400.00 to $600.00 on the Project without rebuilding the engine.I am not done yet and today i will actually drop the 460 in the truck. I am exited. I have also learned that it is a one man job as all my buddies ran and hid and are afraid of such a project. My project is as low budget as it gets and so far ,engine included, i have spent $1000.00 which i dont think is too bad with my initial investment of $650.00 for the truck =$1650.00 for one bad *** truck that dont have any emissions restrictions (in Tenn. anyway).I plan on completing the job this week and will post my results in a few days.

Your gonna need the 460 trans, but I'm guessing you figured that one out. Your driveshaft will be different as the bus tranny will be a slide in yoke and the f250 a bolt on. Again I guess you've found this out. Bus should be longer so maybe shortening that shaft and I believe putting the smaller yoke end on the end for the rear. Might be able to go to a one peice shaft now. Hope progress went well today and it sounds like your enjoying the job. Thats an important part. These projects make it more your truck.

You are rite on all accounts,I haven't pulled the drive shafts out to do a comparison,(that's tomorrow's task) I was wondering about a one piece drive shaft but I don't know the pro's and con's of either one,so my plan was to make the truck front shaft work if possible.I am expecting a trip to the drive shaft guy and will take every thing I have and tell him what i need and hopefully get one that works.Again you hit the nail on the head,Im having a great time with this project although it is my primary vehicle,so time is a factor.I also plan to tackle the exhaust tomorrow, the bus has a nice 3" exhaust that I plan to cut down to size and fit on my truck.

You can use your 360 motor towers and mounts. you just need to rotate the mounts 30 deg and the 460 will drop right in. The downside is that only 2 bolts line up on each motor mount, instead of the usual 3. However, it will hold just fine with the 2.

Thankx for the tip on the motor mounts Red tail, although i could have used that advise when i first started this post before i spent $170.00 on the trans dapt mounts. The 460 has a lot of torque, that's the magic of having a 460.I plan on pulling my camper or my Harley trailer so i don't know if i would be comfortable with only two bolts on each side. The 460 takes up a lot of space and a broken motor mount can cost you a new radiator and a wrecker bill. The 360 frame mounts are a little on the thin side as well. The trans dapt mounts are made very well and can handle an engine with three times the horse power.Yesterday I put the tranny in its place, the trans mount from the 68 bolted up perfect to the later model C6,then i dropped the 460 in her new nest and lined everything up and marked the frame mount holes to be drilled. Today i will get it all bolted together and hopefully get it wired up and fired up tomorrow. This is going to be the best Christmas ever! I pulled both drive shafts and a trip to a drive line shop is imminent unless anyone has any ideas.I have pictures of my progress on my profile page,I just haven't figured out how to get them in my posts yet. Merry Christmas all! Have a safe holiday.

I did the same swap in the early '80s only with '75 Lincoln parts. The original tailshaft and housing fit the later transmission. That way I didn't have to change the crossmember or driveshaft. Back then I had to build my own motor mounts.

That sounds like a great idea, my first question is,my original tranny is a 1968 C6. Will the tail shaft fit the 1985C6? My cross member and trans mount work perfectly but my drive shaft yolks don't interchange. The tail shaft swap would solve that problem. My second question is, How hard is it to do? Im not afraid of the task,I just like to know that it will work. Thanks in advance for info on this procedure.

My buddy, who used to have a transmission shop, did the work on the trans. If I remember correctly it was an R and R deal. Take out the old and replace it with the older shaft and housing. I have the same truck, 68 F250 Camper Special, as you. I bought mine in '71 and still drive it usually at least once a week. By the way the u-joints are the same as the mid '70s Chevy Malibus.

Output shafts and extension housings are a direct swap.
As far as the motor mounts go, just get the perches and mounts from a 73-79 F-series w/460 (3 pieces each side).

Thanks for the info.I plan to go and buy a book to see if I can do this my self, I am on a very tight budget so Im trying to do as much as possible myself. As for mounts,I have already purchased a set of mounts from Headman Headers and they work great. Thanks again for your help.

Didn't get much done other than clean and paint the old 1968 breather.I did pick up a Haynes transmission book today and it don't look like that bad of a job.But there's no such thing as an easy job.So my next task is to pull the trans back out and swap rear shaft and housing.
