DPF, failing turbo, or both?

Recent trip towing DPF message popped up that it’s past limit and eventually went into limp mode.

Local shop forced a regen and told me my turbo is not looking good. Today I got a P2002 code for the DPF. I also noticed door on the exhaust tip and black smoke when I get on the throttle.

any ideas? Not losing any oil. Builds max boost. A little sluggish on acceleration.

2015 6.7

With soot exiting the exhaust tips, this sounds like a cracked ceramic filter (like what would happen more often with the 6.4L DPF generation) but that's been rare with the 6.7L, at least here.

Did the shop explain what "the turbo is not looking good" actually means? How much boost in PSI is the engine building on the gauge?

Shop said it had something to do with the MAP values. It builds around 25 psi for boost

Because it has massive exhaust restriction, the updated 2015 turbo is solid and not known to fail. Your DPF needs the replacement.

Address the DPF only. And check your air filter to ensure it is not in need of replacing.

Thanks guys. I’m considering my options. It would be nice to have had a device able DPF on this truck.

Also my exhaust manifold:boost pressure is about a 2:1 ratio, is that normal? I’ve seen it as high as 65 psi before.
