does my 1993 f-250 have a low oil shutoff? i drove it all day yesterday and it ran fine and started fine all day. this morning it wont start, fuel pump is running,,,, and it wouldnt start on starting fliud. out of suspition i cheaked the oil and the dipstick is dry, witch leads me to think it has a low oil shutoff.just want to make shure before i go on a parts run.
My 92 (4.9) work truck would lose oil pressure and still run. A few of my GMs with TBI had that switch but none of my recent Ford truck. If your fuel pump runs all the time with the KOEO than your computer might be gone. The pump should come on for about three seconds and shutoff until the engine sees about 200 RPM. Use a paper clip and try to pull the codes it will at least tell you if the computer is still functional.

x2 on rikards comment. I have 2 computers on my kitchen table as we speak, one has a melted capacitor. and the pumps would continue to run and the engine would never start. and that IS controlled by the eec NOT a pressure regulator as we normal folks would assume.\The BIG numbers and letters on the eec are most important to match and MAY be also found on the door jamb We had low oil shutoffs on our industrial snow making machines so they DO exist. and when we fixed cars for some people, we'd hook the oil light to the seatbelt buzzer, which they'd take more seriously than the oil light. Yer prob ok, there are what? 7 quarts in those engines minus 2 off the stick may still equal 5??
ok so i looked at it some more and the fuel pumps are not running in either tank and no preasure at the fuel rail. i looked at the fuel pump cutout switch and it was up so i pushed it down and nothing. do i need a computer to check the codes? please help i need this truck up and running asap!!

Yeah, I had a quite a day too and still no truck. GF not happy either. (her truck) Most folks know more than I do but I know there are fuses and also a fuel pump relay. I''ve heard that the ignition switch can cause no juice to the pumps so wiggle that a bunch of times on and off, bad relay which MAY have the same number as the horn relay , , bad fuse that looks good, or even bad relay socket with a good relay. There is also a way to 'hotwire' the pump, diagostically of course, thru one of the test connector sockets.. Then best to know if you have low pressure pumps in each tank and a high press one on the frame rail etc etc , b/c those questions will come up. PS- some say you can get codes with a paperclip and pay serious attention to the timing and spaces of the blinking cel light in the dash, but it may need to be running to even get those. Try the search key since it looks like most folks have logged off for the night.
so i tested the relays and they are good, the inertia swithch has power in and out of it(in one wire out another and one wire with nothing)so i pulled the connection at the pump and no powerat either pump.so i am thinking a burnt/broken wire mabey. any other tests?ideas?
