EBPV Delete

Newbie here with an early '99 7.3l. Can someone please post the purpose of deleting the EBPV? I have found the procedures etc. but I am curious whether this is because of a failure of the valve,. or that it somehow enhances the performance.

Thanks,
Jim

The main purpose of deleting the EBPV is to minimize maintenance issues. The actuaor is liable to leak oil at some point and it is a PITA to fix. The EBPV is a device that promotes faster engine warming in cold climates. Mine is still operable (or was on the one or two coldest days we had last winter) and doesn't leak, yet. I'll eliminate it when it starts to give me trouble.

As far as performance enhancement goes, my truck is essentially stock, so eliminating the EBPV is not going to make a noticeable performance difference, I suspect. Don't know what your performance plans are...

Its there to help warm up the truck. But honestly we have one with and without and it makes no difference in warm up times. Getting rid of it elimates a future leak, frees up performance, drops egts a little. No downsides to getting rid of it.
