lock switches are sluggish and don't lock or unlock

lock switches are sluggish and don't lock or unlock
i have a 99 f250 5.4 triton my lock switchs both driver and passager sound like they are working but don't work. when you hit the buttons lock or unlock you hear them but sound weak and they don't lock or unlock any help

Do a search called door lock actuators or go to the top of this page and go into the tech folder. Scroll down past the vin section and there is a file titled door lock actuators fixed and you will find instructions and pictures that should help. These instructions call for working on the actuator yourself, I chose not to do that and bought new actuators from edpartsguy (also at the top of this page). He sells OEM Ford parts much cheaper than I can get at my local Ford dealership. This a very common problem.
