I went out today and after pulling into the drive I thought Iwould just check the trouble codes just for the heck.
I came across the following:
P0603 PKAM? Due to changing with tuner? I use sct tuner
P0649 Cruise control lamp circuit? totally not sure
P1000 Moniter testing not complete?
U0105 FICM? Lost communication?
U0306 FICM? Software Incompatible?
I dont know? I was/am thinking I am in need of head gaskets(see previous posts)
As i stated b4 the idle is off, rough cold starts, on vacation pulling travel trailer had the blo back thru degas bottle, slight smell of antifreeze after driving, increased temp while i was towing camper. Lead to believe head gaskets.
But what does this combo of DTC's and symptoms mean? all related to gaskets?
If I could tow the camper with my wheelchair and a horse I so would leave the truck world behind! Just kidding!!!!
P0603 is usually from disconnecting the battery or a PCM failure. U0105 is another FICM/PCM code--lost communication. U0306 can be from a replacement/used FICM that has not been flashed to the PCM and really shouldn't cause you issues, but in your case it might be. If you're using the SCT as a code reader it really really sucks for that and could give you false codes.
Sounds like an electrical issue or a communication issue between the FICM and PCM. Have you had the batteries disconnected?? You might benefit from a trip to the dealership for an IDS diagnostic and/or complete reflash. That might be a LOT of your issues.
Ironically I did have the Batteries replaced a 11/4. They said the batteries were bad. I know they replaced them 1 at a time and only disconnected them that way as well.
My symptoms of the head gaskets started b4 that as well. I tune with SCT but I use an Edge Monitor in stock form as a way to keep an eye on the motor function. I have been looking for hard guages but cannot yet get them.
Do this.......disconnect BOTH batteries for 10 minutes. Turn your headlight switch on during this time. Reconnect your batteries, start your truck, and see if the codes return. You might have the P0603, P1000, and MAYBE the U0306 (which can mean a mismatched FICM) Have you checked the FICM voltage (see tech folder) and the fuse box for blown fuses? Just throwing out some basic/easy stuff you can check. I'm wondering if the cruise control lamp bulb in the dash is burnt out??
U know now i think of it and as strange as it may be it may have been disigned this way.
When I turn on the cruise, which works fine, but when i turn on the cruise nothing on the dash lights up, i have no way of knowing if the cruise is actually on. but when i engage the set acc button I get the picture of the speedo, to show it is actually engaged.
I had to have the HPOP done Dec 08 and in2 the shop Feb of 09 for EGR coolant leak. And i had them reflash pcm/ficm at the same time. Then I only used the tuners/ not changed anything.

Fuses are fine but I have not checked FCM voltage tho
