So out of nowhere last night on the way home from work I have black smoke billowing out of every orifice on my dashboard. Fortunately I was in a place that I could get off the road in a hurry and shut her down and bailed out. After the smoke cleared out I found a bundle of melted wires at the headlight switch. Looks like my rebuild order just got changed.
Looking at options from this point, it appears that Painless has a pretty inclusive wiring kit for these trucks. Does anyone have any experience with this one, or possibly another option? Also, while I am at it I would like to change out the entire gauge assembly and go with some Auto Meter gauges which would also include the spedometer and tach. I see that the spedometer has an electric sender, will this work on these trucks given that they typically have a cable? Thanks in advance.
theres not alot to the wiring on these compaired to the 80's on up i would get the wiring off another truck itl probably save you alot except for finding one
I actually want to replace all those old wires with new ones, just didn't want to have to do it right off the bat. Obviously time takes its toll on them and finding other old parts will not solve the problem. I will take a look at the Centech product. Thanks for the tip.
