i have a 2006 F-250 5.4l 3v and im still trying to track down what is causing this rattle or ticking noise. i have recorded i bit of what it sounds like, not sure how to get the sound clip to you guys so you can help me.
the truck has 226000 kms on it so its not new, its running good just the noise is getting to me. its not running rich or lean. that is i think it isn't i don't know how else to check that then the exhaust blue or white or smell of fuel or oil right??
when i am accelerating it has a bit of a ticking noise, it sounds like a wet ticking noise, not really sure, when i let off on the throttle it does the same thing but more of a rattle kinda. any ideas would be great. if anyone has a idea how i can get the sound clip on here or for you guys to listen to let me know i am going to try and get a better clip of it aswell. thanks FTE you guys are the best and i hope i can this tracked down
There is a good chance that you are hearing the Cam Phasers, Is it loudest at idle, but only after it warms up, or do you hear it at start up (cold)? Does the sound go away above 1500 rpm?
it makes the noise warm or cold. and if i hold the idle at 1000rpm it rattles pretty good, everything is smooth with the idle, just the noise is concerning me
