I'm going to be replacing the head gaskets on my 2000 F250. Any recommendations on gaskets to get? Gasket kits? I have seen Felpro has permadry gaskets or permatorque with the metal reinforcements in it. I have heard the permatorques are the way to go but wanted some opinions. Also going to replace the timing chains while I have everything torn down.. along with the head bolts. Any recommendations on any or all of these items and where to get them?
Just stock rebuild. I dont use the truck to pull anything or push snow. Just haul stuff in the bed from time to time. I'm just looking to fix the leaking gaskets with a quality fix. I don't drive the truck a whole lot so I don't want to pour a bunch of money into it that's not necessary for what I use it for. But, I dont want to go a cheap route and have it leak again down the road.
Standard gaskets and timing chains should be fine. Make sure the heads and block are checked for level mating surfaces before the gasket is installed. Correct as needed.
I like ARP products for holding the head down, but that is just my preference.
