Hey all!! The new Aero is running good so far, but I have noticed a strange vibration when driving.. you can definitely feel it in the steering wheel, and sometimes it vibrates to the point of vibrating the rearview mirror. Any ideas? Just had new brakes, outer tie rod ends, new sway bar links, and new lower ball joints. It's a 94 EB AWD. Any ideas as to what this may be?
the sound the vibration makes does change with speed, tires are brand new and were balanced when they put them on.. the vibration is worst about 35-55 mph.. then seems to subside.. and the van doesn't seem to coast without dropping faster than I would imagine.. but it's been years since I've owned an Aero.. so it may be normal..
Vibrations that can be felt through the steering wheel is not normal, and if it varies with speed, it sounds like a balance problem. For example, I've seen new tires that were out of round. You can check this by jacking up a corner and observe while turning the tire.
If it's not a balance problem, then it could be some other worn part that has not been replaced. I see a lot of the front end parts have been replaced, but I wonder if they were checked after installation? Maybe you can jack up the front end and try to wobble the tires up and down to check the wheel bearings, or side to side to check the inner tie rods.
