When I am towing up hill, if I really get on the accelerator hard, I get a 1211 trouble code. Injector Control Pressure higher/lower than normal. Only happens when towing uphill.
I also just started started getting 0672,0674,0676 and 0678 which is Glow Plug Circuit for cylinders 2, 4, 6 and 8.
So what do I need to do to take care of this? I am new to diesels, and not super mechanical, but can do basic stuff. Something I can do or does it need to go into the shop?
Sounds to me like your UVCH is getting loose, because of all the plugs in one bank are showing bad. The 1211 code comes from the HPOP not being able to keep up with the injectors. Happens with a tuner, or putting a load on the engine.
The P1211 is probably due to the fact that you are running some kind of programmer or tuner. When you are hard on the throttle towing up hill you are taking lots of high pressure oil. You could have a problem, or a weaker HPOP. It is not uncommon to get that code when working her hard.
The GP codes I will assume you have a Glow plug Control Module (GPCM) since they are all the same side and you are getting these codes. You may have a bad module or you have a connector loose.
What are you working on? Superduty or Excursion. Is it a California truck?
I have an Edge Evolution CS set to level 2. I figured it had something to do with it for the 1211 code. Happens more when my wife drives the Excursion. She is heavier footed than I am.
Anyone have pics of these modules I need to check for loose connectors so I know where to look?
Thanks Clint, reading through it now. It seems in that thread folks are noticing power loss issues. I am not having any of that. The truck drives fine, about the only thing different is that the wait to start engine light stays on longer now, but then it is getting colder so I chalked that up to the temperature.
If it is an Excursion you have a GPCM and it is causing the glow plug codes. There should be two connectors on it. Make sure they are both fully seated. If that all checks out you most likely have a failed GPCM.
