Tailgate

I am not anywhere near my truck so the question. I just found a pretty straight and undamaged tailgate for the 1973 F-350 Ranger XLT I am restoring. It has the Ford imprinted name but no chrome piece on the gate. I checked the catalogs and can buy the chrome overlay to make it stock.. Does it just fit over the imprint area and I have to drill the fastners holes or can i just paint it as it is. Would it be the same as original without the chrome overlay. I am not sure whether an XLT came without the overlay.

I hope my question makes sense.

I know what you mean. If the new tailgate does not have the holes for the trim then you will need to make holes for it to attatch. I bought an OEM tailgate for my truck on ebay and it didnt have any holes for the center trim. I have new OEM center trim pieces but I cant figure out where Id need the holes so Im just not using the trim pieces.

Ronzi, yours looks just fine for me. You have the diamond plate top and the two trims with a chrome step bumper. That seems like plenty of chrome for the rear end. And with a chrome handle trim piece.
